Parenting Network
was founded and became a 501©3 corporation in November of 1987.
Funded by the Department of Developmental Services in 1988, it
became the Tulare County Early Start Family Resource Center. The Early
Start FRC has served parents of children with special needs by
providing peer support services, counseling, and information and
referral services. These families have many of the same issues
as other families, including homelessness, domestic violence,
mental health issues, and so forth. In 2007, Parenting Network
received a planning grant from First 5 Tulare County to complete
a community needs assessment and develop a plan for a new
Visalia Family Resource Center. The Visalia FRC opened with
limited services in November of 2008. In July 2009, the Visalia
FRC became fully functional with funding provided by First 5
Tulare County. The FRC is currently funded by multiple sources
and offers an array of services to families in Visalia. |
Mission Statement
To improve the life of all families including those with special
needs by providing support and empowerment through the
centralized delivery of social, educational, health, advocacy,
and other support services while respecting beliefs, values,
customs, and cultures.
